Clinical acupuncture provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) is covered by most extended health benefit plans in Ontario. Maria Laffin is registered with the CTCMPAO and holds the R.Ac. and R.TCMP designations. Receipts will include her registered name, credentials, and registration number for submission to your insurer. Coverage varies by plan — contact your benefits provider before your first appointment to confirm. TCM herbal medicine are not typically covered by standard extended health plans.
Your first appointment includes a full intake assessment. Maria will ask about your health history, current concerns, sleep, digestion, stress levels, and any medications you are taking. This intake is included within your appointment time and shortens the hands-on treatment by approximately 15 minutes. Please complete the intake form online before you arrive.
Eat a light meal one to two hours before your appointment.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing — yoga pants and a loose top work well, as treatment often requires access to the lower legs, forearms, abdomen, and back.
If you are feeling unwell or experiencing cold-like symptoms, please wear a mask to your appointment.
Avoid caffeine or any stimulants at least 3 hours before your appointments but do take your medication as usual.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment as sessions cannot be extended beyond your booked time.
We require 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to the full session fee. Appointment changes can be made online through JaneApp at any time before that window.

The number of treatments varies depending on the individual and the nature of the concern being addressed. Maria will discuss your treatment plan with you during your first appointment based on your intake assessment.
Some patients come for a specific concern; others make acupuncture part of their long-term wellness care.
Note: We do not guarantee specific outcomes for any individual patient.
Acupuncture as practised by a regulated professional in Ontario is a safe, established therapy. Maria Laffin holds both the R.Ac. and R.TCMP designations from the CTCMPAO, Ontario's regulatory college for traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists. All needles used are single-use, sterile, and disposed of after each session.
If you have a bleeding disorder, are taking blood thinners, are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or any other serious health condition, please mention this when booking so that your treatment can be planned accordingly.
